Update: As reported below by Kevinmcox, Adobe has added some network support for the latest InDesign CC 2015.4 (June 2016) release - please search below for "Adobe InDesign CC 2015.4 Release | June 2016 "Improved stability while working with network files" - but that is only for files of 100 MB or less (so meaningless for most work by professional designers using InDesign).
